1973 Two climbers, Eric Renyolds and Dave Huntley began building down jackets and sleeping bags in their dorm rooms at the University of California, Santa Cruz. They called themselves "Marmots: after a climbing club bearing the same name. Then in 1974 they opened a store in Grand Junction, Colorado and Marmot was born. Marmot products have been field-tested on every mountain range on earth and in virtually every outdoor enviroment imaginable.
